I used to spend a lot of time making photo art in Photoshop when I had nothing better to do… I recently started getting back into it, and decided to make a desktop background for myself.
I used a detail photo of S.R. Crown Hall at IIT with the idea that taking an interesting structural detail, compounding it into various iterations, and layering, could form the basis for spatial design of other buildings (poor man’s generative design).
Foreground becomes a bird’s eye perspective of a colonnade along a massive facade, behind which could be an open space for a lecture or concert hall (bottom-left corner of the image).
I want to do more of these… it was a lot of fun to make!
